Studies show that you are more likely to exercise on a regular basis if you have someone exercise with you. A great way to do this is to join a local organization like the Dogwood Trailblazers, Joplin Road Runners, or one of the many dancing clubs.
Dogwood Trailblazers are affiliated with the national AVA Volkssporting organization. The club is designed to provide opportunity for fun, fitness, and friendship. The Trailblazers schedule 5K and 10K walks throughout the area all year long. Club meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 in the St. John’s Regional Mercy Foundation building at 3001 McClelland Blvd. For more information, visit the Dogwood Trailblazers website.
The Joplin Roadrunners are a group of local runners of all ages and abilities. The Roadrunners meet the second Monday of every month to share their experiences, encourage each other, and preview upcoming events, and enjoy one another’s fellowship. It is their goal to promote and foster running in the tri-state area. Find more about the Joplin Roadrunners at Joplin Roadrunners.com
